Attack on Titan closely follows the events of the anime’s season 1 episodes and puts you right in the action, to experience most of the show’s iconic moments. For those unfamiliar with the anime the basic premise is this. Humanity is near extinction by a enormous horde of mutated, humanoid giants  and have built one last settlement with walls higher than the creatures in a attempt to survive. It came under attack one faithful day and things quickly went very bad for humans.
That is where the anime truly begins and follows the events of the three main protagonists Eran, Mikasa and Armin as they take the fight to the Titans in the show’s very unique form of fighting that the game also takes after. You will be grappling around from building to building to avoid being a sitting duck for the titans and must attempt to maneuver yourself to target the beast’s one weak point which is the back of it’s neck. It’s not as easy as being skilled at maneuvering however, you must also take your gas tank into account and take care not to deplete it least you lose your ability to move at break neck speeds.
You will not be fighting alone though, you can recruit up to four other characters to accompany you into battle and give them orders such as attacking a Titan’s leg to force it crawl around. Another one of it’s interesting looking features is the ability to transform into a Titan yourself (only for a certain character), and fight off your previously superior foes mano a mano.
Attack on Titan is going to be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 physically while the Steam, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 versions will be available digitally only Two bonus costumes are available to those who pre-order Attack on Titan from Amazon, Best Buy, EB Canada and GameStop: The Cleaner’s Weapon and Costume for Eren and Levi as well as Mikasa’s Festival Costume. It is scheduled to be released August 30 2016.
